An Anticipation Guide is....a set of questions regarding the assigned novel. These questions will help introduce you to the conflicts and topics you may confront in your reading. They are also designed to encourage you to think about these issues and to build expectancy for the novel.

Now that you have given your name, take a few minutes and complete the following Anticipation Guide. It simply consists of a few simple yes/no questions and a few opinion questions. Since you probably haven't read the novel yet there are no right or wrong answers. So please don't stress.

 

1. Is deception ever acceptable behavior?      If so ,when?

2. Are you a believer in the supernatural?    

3. What does supernatural mean to you?

 4 What is the most important thing you learned before you were 10 years old?

5. Do your views match those of the adults in your life?  

6. Tell about something you have experienced that has played a role in your character development? 

7. In your opinion, when does a person become an 'adult'?

8. Do you believe racism exists today?  

9. Have you ever been stereotyped (someone has characterized you according to looks, race, economics, etc)?  

10. Are you self-reliant or dependent?   

11. Do you think the human character is essentially good or evil?

12. Do you think people differ much according to the part of the country they live in?  

These 3 questions are to learn a little about your reading experience. 

13. Living in a part of the country that is known for dialect, do you think it will be an asset reading a novel with various dialects? Why?


14. Do you prefer reading from the first person point of view?
