This week you will be finishing up your photo 14 day book assignment.  You will also be working on shooting for your Self Portait Assignment.

Your next sketchbook assignment is on Color. I want you to research what different colors mean and create 2 two page spreads on the three different complimentary color combinations. Red and Green, Purple and yellow and Blue and orange.  Find color images off the Magnum photography site you will need two images for each combination.  Please discuss why you choose each image and how the photographer is using the specific color schemes.  Due date:April 14

Digital shooting assignment Due April 29. 3 images with 3 different color combinations.. 

 The example below is from photographer Alessandra Sanguinetti.  It is a beautiful example of the use of red and green. The use is very delicate and subtle.  Look how the young girl is engaged with you the viewer as her friend is admiring the necklace.  This is a very intimate and beautiful image. 

Self portrait critque is April 15th

Sketchbook  assignment Lighting Due April 21   Create 3 two page spreads on Lighting evoking emotion  using Visual Elements of photography and information about your

photographers. Please include 3 different lighting situations that evoke 3 different emotions.

The image above is by Elliott Erwitt. The image is using window light to create this low lighting effect.  The light coming from the window is angelic like the innocense of a new baby.

Your next shooting assignment will be lighting with the critque on April 29. Three images with 3 different lighting situations to evoke emotion.

This week you will be working on your abstract paintings and turning in your Memory Portraits along with your $15 check made out to The Memory Portraits.

Both pieces are due Friday April 1.  Thursday your portrait is due, we will be taking your photos for the children so be ready.

This week you are to be working on your next two concentration pieces. You have two pieces due the day you return from spring break for a critique. 

We will be uploading your images to the AP website the week you return from spring break.

This week you will be completing your multi color reduction. Your best print is due at the end of class Friday April 1. We will have a critque the Monday you return from spring break.

We will be grading and critiqueing your graphite drawings today. We will also be viewing a powerpint on color and taking notes.

Tuesday you will begin micro labs on color and technique for learning oil pastel and colored pencil.

You will work on your color micro labs until Friday and they are all due Monday when you walk into class.

Your sketchbook assignnment is due Wednesday.

This week you will be selecting one of your finished abstract pieces to begin the final paintings.

You will be working on thumbnail sketches for these paintings this week. Your final working drawing will be due Tuesday and counted as a sketchbook assignment. We will begin construction of convas or masonite panels starting on Wednesday. The final paintings are due Friday March 25th.

This week you are working in the studio on your concentration pieces and your next sketchbook assignment for your next conentration pieces.

Monday we are working on our sketchbook assignment for the second Lino cut assignment using 3-5 color reduction. Same for Tuesday, Your sketchbook assignment for this project is due Wednesday and the final drawing is due Friday at the end of class.

Your homework is to work on the final drawing due Friday from your Inspriation sketchbook assignment.

Photojournalism assignment:

Shoot 14 images, one per day documenting your life. Make a handmade book and work in the style of Dan Eldon. The book is the evidence or the visual diary for the 14 days.

Requirements:

Digital images

Mixed media

Handmade book

Beautifully composed pages using compositional skills and correct exposure

Due March 16

Create a two page spread of images that have 3-5 colors. Print them out in color, discuss why you choose them, who the artist is and what the prints are about. On the other page do a drawing for your idea. Color it in completly with markers, paint or colored pencils. This drawing should be about shape and flat in nature. Should be your work not images from the internet. You may work from your own photos or imagination.

This week you have 3 prints and a sketchbook due Friday March 11.

During the week you should be processing film, working in the darkroom and your sketchbook.

We will be having a crtique on Friday.

Monday-Thursday you will be finishing your neg. powered graphite drawing.

Friday- We will have a critique on your graphite drawing and your powered graphite drawing.

Sketchbooks are due this Wednesday March 2 at the beginning of the period.

Monday we are having our FEAST and final portfolio critques.  I am still waiting for your sketchbooks please get them to me ASAP.

Tuesday-Friday you will be working in the studio on two more concentration pieces.Due March 18th.

Sketchbook assignment: What have you learned thus far about Photography?

Create a two page spread using any photos you have made and contact sheets.

Make you pages creative and interesting, use a variety of text's to discuss what you have learned.
