              Students continue to work on Self portraits.

Tuesday-Friday  Students will be working on Self portraits done from observation.  Redone or fixed Evidence due Friday to be regraded.

Oct. 13-17 Week 10

Monday:  Short critique on Metalic homework, some students will need to fix or redo by Wednesday. Students will continue to work on shading their hands from observation.

Tuesday: Students continue shading theri hands from observation due Wednesday

Wednesday:  Students turn in redo homework metalic drawings

                    Students pin up shaded hand drawings

Homework:  "Evidence that you exist in this world" Thumbnails due Monday Oct. 20

                      Final Drawing Due for Critique Monday Oct. 27

Assignment: Draw or paint a still - life that is Evidence of your existence. It can deal with your effect on the environment or re-enforce the fact that you do indeed exist. Work from direct observation of life; no photographic reference is permitted.

It would also be helpful to sketch out some thumbnail compositions in the sketchbook and consider value, color, light source, etc. Do not choose the 1st point of view. Play with Point Of View (POV) in your sketchbook until you find the most powerful statement. Scale up to match the format of your larger paper.

Drawing Issues:  Value, composition and lighting 
Remember the methods used to create value, Consider the expressive effect of meaning you want to convey.

Thursday:  Students begin working on Self Portraits from observation using dramatic lighting "teacher led"

Friday:  Continue these inclass drawings.

Oct. 6-10 week 9

Monday:  Critique egg drawings (homework)
              Continue graphite drawings of folded paper

Tuesday:  Continue graphite drawings of folded paper due Wednesday
                Pin up graphite paper drawings and begin shading your hand
                from observation.

Wednesday:  Critique graphite drawings folded paper
                    Start or continue shading hand from observation

Thursday:  Students need to turn in egg drawings that were due on Monday.
               Homework due Monday for Critique:
                Drawing Issues:  Value to create form, perspective, space, contrast and texture.
               Assignment:  Do a drawing that demonstrates your understanding of metalic
               surfaces.  Represent a sense of space,include the atmosphere the objects are in.
               Consider:  Point of view, above or below your subject.
               You must work from direct observation of life no photographic reference is 
               permitted, please light your still life so you have strong shadows and drama.
