STudents will be completing their thumbnails today using vine charcoal.

Tuesday-Wednesday Students will begin to enlarge their best thumbnail sketch on to the prepared gessoed paper.

Thursday-Friday- Students will begin the underpainting process. General to specific light oil washes,

Students will be beginning our unit on Oil painting.  Please bring all of your supplies with you to class. Paint brushes, small glass jar with lid, old rag and pallette.

DP1 students- will continue to work on shading their stilllifes from observation.Drawings are due Friday at the end of class.

DP2 students- Your color self portaits are due today. Everyday it is late I will be deducting 10 We will begin our new unit. Essential question is: How does an artist develop meaning with an imitative painting?  How does subject matter influence meaning with in the painting?
We will be using oil for this unit.

Sketchbook assignment: Artist research and inspiration page.  Please look at the following artists and create a 2 page spread for one artist from each column. One from the past and one that is contemporary,  including the followingthe following information for each artist, 3 images of artist's work, information about each piece, What is each piece about? Where this artist fits in to Art History, what style is the artist using? What are your thoughts or reflections abou the work?
