I feel like I botched my attempt to culminate the projectiles and falling objects section, so I'll try again tomorrow.
Daniel Davis: September 2009 Archives
We discussed solubility and the relationships between saturated, supersaturated, and unsaturated solutions.
We finished motion in two dimensions and began focusing on projectiles and forces in two dimensions.
WebAssign appears to be functioning nominally now. I will begin putting assignments on WebAssign Tuesday, hopefully...
We discerned the differences between Elements and Compounds. We focused on symbols and formulas, and the students were alerted to a possible quiz on Element Symbols later in the week.
We finished our exploration of material sciences by contrasting Physical and Chemical changes.
Students continued in their explorations of vector components and adding vectors.
Periods 5 and 6 were assigned one homework question.
Classes were cancelled on 9/22
Students took the Motion in 1 Dimension test.
Students took a quiz on the phases of matter and the phase changes based on a substance's melting and boiling points.
Afterwards, we finished discussing the Matter Tree and began focusing on the elements of the Periodic Table.
Today was the students' last day to ask questions or review for their test tomorrow.
Review questions were assigned:
pp. 80 - 83
#57, 59, 61, 68, 75, 76, 78, 80, 109, 111
#112 could be completed for a bonus....
We continued to explore the Matter Tree, and the differences between elements, compounds, and mixtures.
There will be a quiz tomorrow on the Phases of matter.
Students attempted their first major test. Combined with last week's Performance Assessment, their grades should be updated by Wednesday of next week.
We continued to explore Projectile Motion and coordinate systems.
WebAssign should be up and running, but a student tells me that when they log in that it tells them to pay the money. I've turned the money in to our accountant, and I'll try to get that straightened out as soon as possible.
As long as the WebAssign system recognizes your name and password and THEN tells you to pay, it recognizes that you are in the system and I've got to realize how to pay.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Today, we discussed the displacement of an object under the effects of constant acceleration. Students were given graph paper and asked to complete #31 on p. 71.
We continued to practice our Dimensional Analysis skills. We began the first Performance Assessment, a laboratory evaluation that counts as a test.

Students who were absent to-day will use the data from another group to complete the PA.
