About Me

I am originally from Ohio. I graduated from Ohio University with a BFA in Photo Illustrations. My emphasis was in Graphic Design and Visual Communications.

The summer after I graduated, a couple of friends and I came down to Atlanta to work at the 2006 Olympics! What a great experience that was! We decided to move down that fall ... there was a lot more going on in Atlanta than in Ohio!

My first job was at a service bureau in Marietta, called Penstroke Graphics. There I learned the ins and outs of design ... troubleshooting files to print properly and management of my time. With a few years of experience under my belt, I took a job with Platinum Entertainment, an independent record company in Alpharetta. Unfortunately, I worked with a lot of "has beens" in the industry ... The Beach Boys, Rick Springfield, etc. However, it was a lot of fun designing artist albums and materials for marketing purposes. From there, my career path lead me to USMotivation, an incentive marketing company in the Dunwoody area. I was Senior Designer in the Art Department. We supported the sales and meeting teams who planned incentive programs for companies.

I enjoyed USMotivation; however, I found myself wanting to begin a family. As a designer (low man on the totem pole), I would spend long days to meet a deadline. I wouldn't be able to be a good Mom and work such long hours. Insert Chattahoochee High School! I was excited when the opportunity arose to teach what I so loved to do ... graphic design and photography! My husband is also a teacher ... 8th grade Language Arts. So, being on similar "teacher" schedules was a great perk!

I have two amazing boys ... a 8 year old and a 5 year old. I enjoy spending as much time with them as I can! Check out their photos on the "My 2 Boys" page!
I am now in my 10th year at Chattahoochee! Go Cougars! chspaw.jpg
