Sept. 29-Oct.3 Week 8

Monday:  Students will complete their micro lab on painting skin tones.
              We will talk about the homework- micro lab in sketchbook drawing facial parts and     shading them in graphite from observation.  Two each.

Tuesday:  SCAD presentation

Wednesday:  Students will begin micro lab Isolating facial features and painting them from observation using realistic skin tones.  Due Friday.

Thursday:  Students will continue micro lab.
                 Students will start to work on homework: Experimenting with "Open" acrylic paint. painting a small group of objects from observation.  Homework will be due Monday Oct.6


Friday:  Students will finish micro lab

Critique on Redo work- Expressive mark making interior  expressing an emotion.

SCAD presentation and portfolio reviews

Wednesday:  Introduction to "Space the Picture Plane"  in class demonstration

Thursday:  Students work on in class drawing focusing on space, mark making using powdered graphite.

Homework due on Monday for Critique:
Drawing Issues: Significant marks, Atmospheric Perspective, Space, Emphasis, Value

Concept: Creation of space, mood, and ambience

Assignment: Do a drawing that shows a view from an interior space to an exterior space. Represent deep space (foreground, middle ground, and background).

Consider and interesting point of view:
*above or below eye level
* no 1 point perspective

Consider why are you choosing this point of view. What personal meaning does it hold for you?

YOU MUST WORK FROM DIRECT OBSERVATION OF LIFE.

Monday September 22-25

Students will be shooting images and making positives for assignment: line, shape and pattern.

Students will also be working in their sketchbooks on assignment: Light, motion and texture.  Sketchbooks are due September 26 for a critique.  Please make sure your positives are dry and ready for the critique

 

Wednesday September 24 sketchbooks due Light, motion and texture

Friday September 26 all prints due for Critique

Monday Sept 22

All four spheres completely shaded using all three mark making techniques and one "free" are due with backgrounds included.

 

Tuesday 23- Thursday 25

We will begin shading simple white forms from observation this week using the mark making systems you just learned.

 

Friday 26

We will begin shading folded pieces of paper.  The simple forms and the shaded paper will be due on Monday September 29.

Critique Sept. 22

We will be having a critique on your in class "mark making" drawings and your homework: Interior that reflects an emotional response using marks

 

Tuesday 23-26 we will be discussing The Three- Dimensional Space of a Drawing

We will be having in class demonstrations and will be beginning an in class drawing for a critique on Monday Sept. 29th

Monday September 22 critique on homework portrait using oil pastel from direct observation and critique on in class drawing using oil pastels from the mannequin.

 

Tuesday September 23 begin under paintings for skin tone value scales and skin tone spheres.

 

Wednesday September 24 Demonstration of painting technique and will start value scales using oil paint and skin tones

 

Thursday September 25 continue value scales and will begin spheres using realistic skin tones

 

Friday September 26 Studio time to work on value scales and spheres.  Both will be due Monday September 29.

Sketchbooks/research for low depth and high depth of field, fast and slow shutter speed is due Sept. 24.  Please make sure you review pages 16-21 and 57-75.
Photo students will print in the darkroom and will be preparing images for critique on Sept. 26.
Images due for the critique are: Bulls eye composition, formal and informal balance and frame with in a frame.
