Monday we will be finishing our critique. Tuesday I will be introducing your next assignments. 

2D and Drawing will be working on a Lino piece and the photo students will be working on  a piece inspired by Jerry Ulessman.

Students will be beginning to work on Cyano type as sculpture. Students will be using the idea of Cyano types and sculpture to create new images.  They can sew the cyano types together, they can hang them, glue them to supports anything as long as they become 3d objects.

Students will be continuing to work on their shading techniques.  We will be focusing on local color and texture this week. 

Sketchbook assignment:  Choose 3 to 5 objects that are white and have different textures.  Arrange them in an interesting way.  Please make sure you create a background with some fabric and light your still life with some kind of light source such as a small desk light or spot light.  You need to shade the entire page.  Draw your still life in a value of a 2 so you do not have any outlines.  Below is an example of what I am looking for.

This sketchbook assignment is due Friday Feb. 26 at the beginning of class.

Students have their sketchbooks/process and research on Lino Due on Tuesday.  We will begin working on our drawings for the lino the rest of the week.  Final drawings will be due on Monday of the following week.

Students have a critique on "White on White" Tuesday

Wednesday-Friday students will be completing their research and process sketchbooks on Cyano Types as Sculptured.

Students will be working in the studio on Embellishment, concentration and Color combination prints (matted)  Critique on both pieces is Friday.

Sketchbooks are due Tuesday:  1 page in your sketchbook using graphite and shading techniques.  Build a white paper sculpture and work from observation, make sure you put a light on your sculpture.  Pay close attention to the shadows, value changes and texture.

 

Wednesday-Friday we will be shading different objects from observation in class.

Feb. 8-11

Students are working in the studio on Sketchbooks for LINO assignment.  Sketchbooks are due Feb. 11.  Two pages spread on ideas, which should include a sample of a lino cut second 2 page spread should be the drawing/planning of the finished lino.

 

Lino Reduction Prints

Choose one animal, one reptile and one insect that relate to your person.  Find images, print them out and compose a piece demonstrating the use of repitition found in the animal, insect and reptile.  You may choose to use a border.

We will begin working on the prints the Week of Feb. 15.

Students will be working in the studio on their Shading.  We will be completing the value scales and beginning using the shading systems to render forms from observation.
