Monday-Wednesday you will finishing up your Memory Portraits. They are due with your $15 donation on Wednesday.

Thursday we will be having a powerpoint presentation about Abstract Painting. You will recieve a new sketchbook assignment.

Friday we will begin our Micro Labs for Abstract Painting.

You will be working to complete your in class drawing/value still life due Wednesday.

Thursday we will beginning the powdered graphite neg. drawing technique this drawing will be due next Thursday at the end of class March 10.

Sketchbook assignment: Due Friday March 11

Complete a two page spread on what you have learned about value. The following requirements are:

2 page spread

Pencil

Value range from 2 to 9

Touches all four sides of the page.

1/2 must be done from observation

1/2 done from other sources

Monday and Tuesday we will be continuing to work on our Lino assignment.

Sketchbooks are now due Wednesday.

Wednesday we will be transfering your image to your plate.

Thursday you will continue to transfer the image if you did not complete it in class on Wednesday. You will then begin the carving of the image and you will be working on that the rest of the week.

This week we will be taking a little breather from the studio work.  During class we will be conducting portfolio reviews on everyones portfolio.  We will be doing this until March 7th.

You will need all of your work here in order to do this,

If you haven't turned in your first 4 prints please do so on my desk in the folder. We will be having a formal critique on your 4 images this Friday.

This week you are to be finishing your printing on your first 4 images for the crit and then beginning to print fo your second assignment comp. 2. The following images are due next Friday March 4. Another rule of thirds, leading lines, frame and a strong center of interest.

Sketchbook on Shape texture and pattern are due Feb 25th at the beginning of class so we can critique your first images.

This week you are working on the still lifes on your tables you need to draw and shade them from observation.

This week you are to finish your lino sample and begin working on your sketchbook assignment due this friday.

This week you will be completing your portraits for The Memory Project they are due on Monday Feb. 28. 

I will be collecting your redo self portraits this week for a new grade. I will not take them after Friday of this week.

New sketchbook assignment due Wednesday March 2.

Create a two page spread using the hand out you get from the sub on Tuesday select 3 artists. Print out 2 images from each artist.  Write your comments about each artists work. What do you like about each image?  What feelings or ideas do you get from these images. What is the art about according to the artist.  You should include an interesting background that will compliment the material you are discussing.

This week you have two concentration pieces due Friday.

Your next research sketchbook is due Tuesday March 2.  Your sketchbooks have been lacking in effort the past few weeks and actually of alot of you are not doing them. Sketchbooks are not going away folks they are part of the curriculum and part of this class. My expectation for your sketchbooks from now on are as follows. Any sketchbooks that fall below this standard will recieve a failing grade. I will not accept any late sketchbooks.

SKETCHBOOKS ARE A TOOL FOR YOU TO USE TO EXPLORE IDEAS AND TECHNIQUES FOR YOUR CONCENTRATION PIECES.

1. 2 artists you are looking at for reference inlcude images with your thoughts written in your language commenting on the work.

2. Drawings thumbnail sketchs for composition ideas 2 minumim all parts of the comp must be addressed.

3. Reference material from which you are working from. These visual references may only be yours anything from the internet is forbidden.

4. Technique studies or color combination studies.

Monday you have your value drawing and your pen and ink drawing due in your sketchbook.To day we will be creating value scales in hatching, cross hatching and smooth.

Tuesday-Friday we will be working in the studio on value. We will be working from observation doing many different excercises.

Relief Prints.ppt

Monday- Sketchbooks are due at the end of the period.

Tuesday- We will be having a critque on your Mono prints and beginning our next unit on Lino.

We will be looking at the artist Kathe Kolwitz, viewing a powerpoint on relief printing and watching a demo on the process.

The rest of the week you will be completing your demo piece on lino it will be due Monday of next week. 

Your next sketchbook assignment  will be researching and composing an image on The

Human Condition. You will be using Kolwitz for inspiration as well as the news papers, internet and other sources.  This assignment is due Wednesday of next week. Feb. 23.

Today we have a critique on 2 of your concentration pieces.

Thursday you have your sketchbook due on your next two concentration pieces.

Next due date for 2 Concentration pieces is Feb. 25th.

You need to have one piece you are working on at all times in the studio.

This week we are working on the excercise of drawing a portrait from a photo reference to get ready for our unit on Imitationalism, charity project The Memory Project.

We should be recieving our childrens portraits anyday now! You will be painting them with Acyrlic.

Your studies are due Wednesday. You may want to try and paint a portion of your image to practise before you get your portrait. We will be going over skin tones this week. 

Your paintings in the style of in Acrylic are due today for a critique.

Homework this week is to paint your portrait from observation in Acyrlic due Monday.

Today you have two homework pieces due.

We are having a critique on your Contour line Drawings.

Turn in your best 5 homework drawings from last week and the weekend.

Tomorrow we will begin our Unit 2 on Value please bring in your drawing pencils to begin using. We will be reading the chapter on Value in the book Drawing as Expression and taking notes. Your notes are due Wednesday when you walk into class.

You will have homework everyday this week.  We will be doing the homework in your sketchbooks so make sure you have your sketchbook everyday this week in class.

Looks like you all need a few more days to complete your 3 prints. This week you will be finishing up those prints for a critique on Friday.  Monday Feb. 14th I will be introducing our next unit on Lino. 

Sketchbook assignment: Who is Kathe'  Kollwitz and What does the Human Condition mean?  Create a two page spread with images from the artist from this time period, Write what her work was about and print out 5 images from artist write what you find interesting about each image. Due Monday Feb. 14th.
