Essential Questions:  What is a coil?  How can you make different coil forms?  How have other artists used coils in their ceramics?  What is the difference b/c exposed, covered and creative coils?

Monday:  Demo on building coil forms -- focus today is on exposed coils -- begin mini lab of exposed coil forms

Tuesday:  Demo on building covered coil forms -- finish exposed coil forms -- begin covered coil forms.

HW: research an artist who uses coils in their work.  Print a few images of their pieces and reflect on how their work inspires you.  What about their work drew you to it?  How can you use their work as inspiration to create your own coil form?  Overall what do you like best about their work?  Complete a two page journal spread on this information.  These sketchbooks are due at the end of the day on Friday.
