Essential Question: What is a contour line drawing?

Monday:  Watch blublu.org videos to use as inspiration for upcoming assignment
Tuesday:  Begin by completing a predrawing of hands -- Discuss contour line, drawing on the right side of the brain, and perception
HW:  Complete patterns page in sketchbook - due Thursday
Wednesday: Demo on blind contour line drawing - Students will begin by completing blind contour line drawings working their way to 10/90 drawings
Thursday:  Continue practicing contour line - incorporate pattern into drawings
Friday:  Begin coming up with at least 6 thumbnail sketches incorporating your contour line drawings of hands and patterns.

Essential Question: What is Additive Sculpture?

Monday: View Power point on Additive Sculpture and discuss Alexander Calder's work - Homework: Go home and brainstorm ideas for a Calder Inspired sculpture - your ideas need to fall under the Formalistic Aesthetic Stance. Bring images to use for sketchbook tomorrow.

Tuesday: Working in Sketchbooks on ideas

Wednesday: Demo on Calder Sculptures - begin a maquette using cardstock and thin wire

Thursday: Working on maquette

Friday: Maquette due today

Monday: View Power point on Additive Sculpture and discuss Deborah Butterfields work - Homework: Go home and brainstorm ideas for a Butterfield Inspired sculpture - your ideas need to fall under the Realistic Aesthetic Stance. Bring images to use for sketchbook tomorrow.

Wednesday: Demo on Butterfield Sculptures - begin a maquette

Essential Question: What is Assemblage and how can you make it more personal to you?


Monday: Syllabus and Expectations

Tuesday: Art Rahrah in the Auditorium

Wednesday: Research Assemblage and find 2 artists whose work you really like - complete a 2 page research entry in your sketchbook that includes images and reflections on the artists you found.  Also, take a minute to reflect on how an assemblage can be personal to the artist.  Think about what message you want to give and how you can do that.

Thursday: ART WALK!!!  We will be discussing what decides a "good" sculpture and how can that opinion be proven?  We will walk around and take a look at the sculptures in the building and on campus.
