Chapter 5. 주말에 뭐 하셨어요?

3rd week - Closing

 

1. Past, present, future tense honorific verb/adjective ending

- 읽다=읽으셨어요,  가다=가셨어요, 오다=오셨어요,  주다=주셨어요  : regular forms

- 있다=계셨어요,   먹다=드셨어요,    자다=주무셨어요: irregular forms(exceptions)

- pronunciation practive p136 (table for verb variation)

 

2. 'why' question - '왜'

- can answer questions starting with '왜' (=why ~)

  왜 숙제를 안 했어요? = 바빠서 숙제를 안 했어요.

  왜 머리를 잘랐어요?  = 길어서 잘랐어요.

  왜 구두를 샀어요? = 예뻐서 샀어요.

 

3. Sentence arrangement with scattered words. (p143)

 숙제가, 많아서, 공부를 했어요, 도서관에서 = 숙제가 많아서 도서관에서 공부를 했어요.

 많이, 한국 음식을, 좋아해서, 먹었어요 = 한국음식을 좋아해서 많이 먹었어요.

 없어서, 안 갔어요, 학교에, 수업이 = 학교에 수업이 없어서 안 갔어요.

 

4. Reinforcemnt of 어서/아서 expression (p144)

- 비가 와요. 그래서 = 비가 와서

- 한국어를 좋아해요. 그래서 = 한국어를 좋아해서

- 숙제가 없어요. 그래서 = 숙제가 없어서

Chapter 5. 주말에 뭐 하셨어요?

1st week - Introduction & Developing stage

 

1. Objectives:

- Use expressions of cause and effect relationships

- Answer 'why' questions

- Describe what people of older age or higher social status did

- Talk about weekends and vacations

 

2. Grammar points

- ~으셨어요/셨어요: Past tense honorific verb/adjective ending

- '르' irregular verbs/adjectives

  자르다 - 잘라요, 모르다-몰라요, 기르다-길러요, 부르다-불러요, 빠르다-빨라요

-~아서/어서: causal connective (=because)

  좋다-좋아서, 없다-없어서, 하다-해서, 가다-가서, 오다-와서, 주다-줘서

   좋아요.그래서= 좋아서,   없어요. 그래서=없어서,    하다. 그래서=해서

 

3. Key expressions

- 재미있었겠어요! = It must have been fun!!

- 복잡했어요. = It was crowded.

- 늦게 도착했어요. = I got there late.

- 괜찮아요. = It is ok.

3rd week - Closing

 

1. Reinforce expressions we learned in this chapter:

- ~고 싶어요, ~고 싶어해요

   가방을 사고 싶어요 - I want to buy a bag.

   축구를 배우고 싶어요 - I want to learn how to play soccer.

   민지는 수영을 하고 싶어해요 - Minji wants to learn how to swim.

   크리스는 아이스크림을 머고 싶어해요. - Chris wants to eat ice cream.

 

2. 께, 께서 and ~으실 거예요/ 실 거예요

- 선생님께서 책을 읽으실 거예요. - The teacher is going to read a book.

- 할머니께서 주무세요. - Grandmother is going to sleep.

- 부모님께 이메일을 써요. - Write an e-mail to my parents.

 

3. Progressive Verb Ending: ~고 있어요. (am/are/is ~ing)

~고 있어요 is attached to any verb stem and is used to show that an action is ongoing at the moment.  It cannot be preceded by an adjective.

- 아침을 먹고 있어요. - I am eating breakfast.

- 집에 가고 있어요. - I am on my way home.

- 지금 숙제하고 있어요. - He is doing homework.

- 동생이 방에서 뭐 해요? What is your brother doing in the room?

  방에서 자고 있어요. He is sleeping in the room.

 

4. Activity with partner

- Interview your friend! (Name of college, name of major, name of occupation that you want to be after graduate high school.

 Q1 어느 대학에 가고 싶어요?   Q2 무슨 공부를 하고 싶어요? Q3 뭐가 되고 싶어요?

- Family tree

Create your own family tree by using the titles we learned

2nd week - Developing stage

 

1. Utlize the expressions of ~고 싶어요, ~고 싶어해요 in the conversation given in the textbook and can answer(affirmative or negative) the simple questions such as:

- 스키 타고 싶어요? 네....... 아니오.....

- 샐리가 극장에 가고 싶어해요?  네....... 아니오......

- 앤디가 영화를 보고 싶어해요? 네.....아니오......

2. Learn more honorific expression in addition to verb variation (regular & irregular forms)

- 읽다 - 읽어요-읽으세요, 가다-가요-가세요, 하다-해요-하세요

- 읽다-읽으실거예요. 가다-가실거예요 (future tense)

3. Honorific particle: 께, 께서, 께서는

4. Progressive verb ending: ~고 있다

- 가다-가고 있다, 자다-자고 있다, 먹다-먹고 있다, 사다-사고 있다

1st week - Introduction stage

1. Objectives

- Talk about what they like to do and what their friends like to do

- Talk about what they are doing right now

- Address familymembers and relatives with correct titles(names)

- Understand cultural relatins among family members

 

2. Grammar points

- ~고 싶다: to want to... (1st & 2nd person)

-~고 싶어 하다: to want to...(3rd person)

- ~으실 거예요/실 거예요: is planning to, is going to (Future tense honorific verb ending)

-~고 있다: am/are/is....ing (progressive verb ending) 

 

3. New vocabulary

- family title (motherside, fatherside, male & female)

2. Listening comprehension

- Listen audio CD to get familiarized the three different situations to utlize

  comparatives and superlatives
