DP1
Monday- We will begin Cotour line drawing please review power point if you need to, We will be doing timed drawings using pen.
Tuesday- Friday we will continue drawing different objects using the different types of contour line drawing techniques. Starting with blind contour, 10/90, cross contour, implied lines and line quality will be explored this week.
Homework. Students will complete a series of contour line drawings in their sketchbooks each night. Monday night- 3 drawings of hands blind contour in different positions. Tuesday- 3 10/90 contour line drawings of hands in different positions. Wednsday night- 3 10/90 of one object from 3 different points of view. Thursday- 1 10/90 drawing of 3 objects placed in a still life include background. All of these drawings should be one line, contiunous and begin to show evidence of line quailty and accuracy. Each of these homework assignments should take you 30 minutes to 1 hour. All drawings are to be done in the pen and ink I have loaned you. Be aware of how you are arranging your work- Push coompositons! Think about the negative space. Choose creative objects.
Friday homework for weekend due Monday- One two page spread of 10/90 contour line drawings of the documentation of your weekend. Drawing any and all objects that would in some way document your movement throught the world for 72 hours. All in pen, think about composition and line quality.
I will be checking each of these homework assignments in the beginning of each class.

You will be working on mini labs for colored pencil. You need 5 different objects rendered in colored pencil that have 5 different textures. All Due Friday.
Homework Due Monday- Draw from observation an organic oject in an emotional color scheme. Think about compostion and placement which includes the entire ;picture plane ie background. Do not use realistic colors to complete this pieces this is purely emotional and expressive use of color.
Monday: View Elements and Principles Power Point - Watch Blublu.org videos to get inspiration for upcoming work.
HW: Complete Pattern Sheet by Wednesday
Tuesday: Discuss Contour line, drawing on the right side of the brain, perception and Blind Contour lines - Begin drawing with Blind Contour line drawings
HW: On the internet, find 2 graffiti artists that you like, print out a few images of each of thier work.
Wednesday: Draw using 10/90 drawings - 90% blind, 10% looking - Practice drawing hands
Thursday: Begin thumbnail sketches of your final contour line drawing - use the inspiration from graffiti artists you researched along with your pattern sheet.
Friday: View Sketchbook Powerpoint - Begin working in Sketchbooks
Elements of Art
Line-An element of art that is the path of a moving point through space.
Space- The element of art that refers to the emptiness or area between, around, above, below, or within objects.
Value- An element of art that is derived from reflected light.
Color- An element of art that is derived from reflected light.
Texture- The element of art that refers to how things feel, or look as if they fell if touched.
Shape- A two dimensional area that is defined in some way.
Form- Objects having three dimensions.
Principles of Art
Proportion- The principle of art concerned with the size relationships of one part to another.
Balance- The principle of art concerned with equalizing visual forces or elements in a work of art.
Pattern- The principle of art that refers to a two dimensional decorative visual repetition( has no movement)
Emphasis- The principle of art that makes one part dominate over the other parts.
Rhythm- The principle of art that indicates movement by the repetition of elements or objects.
Movement- The priciple of art used to create the look and feeling of action or to guide the viewers eyes throughout the work
Variety- The principle of art concerned with difference or contrast.
Today we will be reading and taking notes on the elements and priniciples of Art in Art Talk.
Activity: Using magazines students will find and cut out images that they feel represent each of the elements and principles of Art. Students will glue their examples and lable them on the paper provided. Examples are due at the end of class on Thursday.
Monday- Welcome back we will be going over the syllabus and course expectations today.
Tuesday-Thursday you will be working on a predrawing of one object in class from observation, you may use and drawing technique and drawing media of your choice. Please address all areas of the drawing. All pre drawings are due at the beginning of class on Friday
Friday- We will begin the construction of your sketchbooks. Please start collecting 50 different types of paper, it can be any size, color or shape.
We will begin our first unit on Monday.
Monday- Welcome Back! We will be going over AP Website "What is AP" www.Apcentral.com
We will be viewing the sample portfolios and going over the syllabus and course expectations.Students will be putting up their summer homework for class critiques beginning on Tuesday.
Tuesday-Thursday The class will be reviewing the students summer homework and identifiing AP quality pieces that will be remain in porfoio. Each student will have the oppportunity to rework and of the pieces that were deamed not AP qaulity. All summer homework even the reworked pieces are due Sept. 7 for you first grades.
All AP Photo students will begin processing their film and makeing contact sheets from summer rolls. All contact sheets and 10 final prints are due Sept.7th for a critque
Friday- Alls students will begin working on building their sketchbooks..
Monday- We will be going over the syllabus and course expectations. We will begin the circle, sqaure triangle drawing. You will have until Friday to complete the drawing. Please use Black ink or pencil.
Tuesday- Discussion "What is Art" We will be viewing two powerpoints that discuss this concept. Continue cirlcle, square triangle drawing if time in class.
Wednesday- Discussion on how art is organized, it's language, the elements and priciples.Contiue to work on said drawings.
Thursday- Discussion and explaination of sketchbooks, the how and why artists use them. Continue drawing.
Friday- Sketchbooks and checks for $10 are due. We will be begin first Sketchbook #1 What is art? Due Tuesday Sept. 7th
