Girls Incorporated of Greated Atlanta: Girls Summit "Choices"

|

Girls Incorporated of Greater Atlanta is one of the state's leading voices for girls; serving girls in the Atlanta area for 31 years.  With our research-based, educational and interactive programming, we give girls the skills necessary to address the challenges associated with the societal messages regarding their personal value and worth.

This April, Girls Incorporated of Greater Atlanta will host the Girls Summit "Choices": A Conference on Education and Career Planning on the campus Georgia Tech.  Through a partnership with the AT&T and Allstate Foundations, as well as guest speakers who are corporate & community leaders, this summit will help girls examine different ways they can reach their educational and career goals by empowering them to make positive decisions. With the high instances of high school dropouts in GA, it is important to inspire girls to stay focused, on track academically and prepare for successful careers.

In addition to workshops, panel discussions, speakers and fellowship, girls will have access to first, second and third place scholarship awards. The awards will be presented to three deserving young women who submit winning essays on the topic of the importance of education. Award funds may be used to support plans for secondary education or entrepreneurial ventures.

We are extending an invitation to all 9th - 12th grade female students to join us on the campus of Georgia Tech from 9:30 AM - 2:00 PM.  The Girls Summit will take place on April 28, 2009.  The cost for participation is $20.00 per girl, which includes program materials, activities and pizza lunch.  We welcome the opportunity for your students and staff to participate in this year's Girls Summit which is sure to be a wonderful learning experience. With your help we can ensure that all girls are inspired to be strong, smart and bold.
