In class/ Studio Assignment: Exaggerated Clay Figure - Intro will be making clay figures inspired from their gestural drawings of classmates.   See attached Lesson Plan describing the specifics of the lesson:  Expressive Clay Figures.doc    These will be graded using the following Rubric:  rubric_exaggerated figures.doc

In class/ Studio Assignment: Exaggerated Clay Figure - Intro will be making clay figures inspired from their gestural drawings of classmates. 

 

  • Monday:  Gesture Drawing - Pose and Draw Gestural Figures
  • Tuesday: Brainstorm ideas for Clay Figures - develop sketches of classmate in gesture for sculpture by drawing chosen pose from at least 4 views. 
  • Wednesday: Journals Due   In journal:  Art Criticism of Sculptures - due at the end of the period
  • Thursday: Continue and Finish Drawing of Gesture for Sculpture
  • Friday: All about Clay and Demonstration on how to begin Clay figures

In class/Studio Project:  We will be working on drawing the set up still life of Forms - The students will use view finders to help choose their composition and will use their most successful way of showing value (rendering, hatching, cross- hatching).                      Value to Model.doc

  • Monday -  Demo on using view finder and "mapping out" your forms - discussion on composition and it's importance in art.
  • Tuesday - Journals Due Today at the beginning of class  - Continue Drawing Still Life
  • Wednesday - Early Release Day - PSAT  - There will no class today due to testing.
  • Thursday - Continue still life
  • Friday - Last day to work on Still life - Due at the beginning of  the period Monday -10/20.

Journal Assignment:  Create a 2 page spread, find an article or page of text from a newspaper, magazine or copied out of a book -- create a poem/short story by "editing" text -  "black out" words not needed for your poem/short story - Embellish page to relate to text of your poem -- include original text along with rewritten poem/short story  Due: 10/22  Journal assignment 10-17_10-2.doc

October 6th - 10th

In class/Studio Assignment:  This week we will be working on drawing geometric forms from observation.  Value to Model.doc

  • Monday -  Introduce Value and Geometric Forms  - Demo on Sphere - Value drawings of Sphere
  • Tuesday - Demo on Cube - Value drawings of Cube 
  • Wednesday - Demo on Cone - Value drawings of cone 
  • Thursday - Demo on Cylinder - Value drawings of cylinder 
  • Friday -  Teacher Workday - No School for Students

Journal Assignment:  Create a series of thumbnail sketches using your most successful method of showing value and direct observation of a mini still life. Show same still life but draw it from at least 4 different views (will not be graded with normal Journal Rubric--will be graded on completion, effort and value technique )

September 29th - October 3rd

·                       Wednesday:  Begin Value Scales - Rendering

·                       Friday:  Finish Value Scale - Cross Hatching
