  • Friday:  Work in Journals

Journal Prompt:  Expressive Color Layers. Collect several newspaper pages to use as a background. Glue down the newspaper into your journal. Look over the newspaper and find words with similar meanings - it should be words that have a feeling or mood. Use watered down gesso to make a layer over everything on the newspaper except those words. Next, find collage elements or make transfers that go with the isolated words. Use color (watered-down acrylic) to make layers of color that express the isolated words - analogous colors are more comfortable while complimentary colors feel much more edgy. With the images and colors, describe the isolated word. You can add more text if needed.
