We are pleased to announce the opening of the 2010 QuestBridge College Prep Scholarship application. Our program provides more than 1,000 awards that equip outstanding low-income high school juniors with the knowledge necessary to compete for admission to leading colleges. I appreciate your past recommendation of Anna Oh for our organization's programs, and I would be grateful for your support in connecting more students with our scholarship opportunities.

The College Prep Scholarship allows students to access many opportunities through one application, including:

  • 10 full scholarships to college summer programs at Emory University, Harvard University, Stanford University, the University of Notre Dame, the University of Pennsylvania, and Yale University
  • 40 awards of college admissions counseling provided by QuestBridge staff
  • 1,000 invitations to QuestBridge College Admissions Conferences at Stanford and Yale
  • 100 all-expense-paid campus visits to top-ranked colleges

The College Prep Scholarship application is free of charge and is due March 29, 2010.

QuestBridge is also offering Quest for Excellence Awards as part of the College Prep Scholarship program. Awardees will each receive a new laptop computer, and either a full scholarship to a college summer program or career mentoring opportunities. Please visit www.questbridge.org for more details.

The College Prep Scholarship is designed to prepare students for the QuestBridge National College Match in their senior year. Through the National College Match, more than 1,000 QuestBridge applicants gained admission to our partner colleges in 2009 with generous financial aid. Of these students, 268 received College Match scholarships covering the full cost of tuition and room and board, worth up to $200,000.

Please share this information with students in any of the following ways:

Thank you for spreading the word about the College Prep Scholarship. Your assistance is vital to our ability to serve students as a non-profit program. For additional information, please feel free to contact us at educators@questbridge.org.

New Website for B.Davis Scholarship

The B.Davis scholarship has moved to a new website.  The name of our former website, Scholarship Quest Helper, apparently was infringing on a registered trademark.  We have complied with the wishes of the other party and have changed our name and our website.

Our new website is Student Award Search Aid and can be found at http://www.studentawardsearch.com/scholarships.htm .  You will find the same good information on helping students through the task of finding and applying for scholarships.

Huggable Heroes® Program

|

Do you know young leaders in your school between the ages of eight and 18 making a difference in the community or the world? Here's a unique scholarship opportunity that's based on good deeds vs. good grades! It opens new doors for kids who might not have a chance to get an academic scholarship.

Now through February 26, Build-A-Bear Workshop® is accepting entries for its seventh annual Huggable Heroes® program, which recognizes everyday young people who go to extraordinary lengths to make life better for others. From helping children in underdeveloped countries to supporting cancer and diabetes research, organizing toy drives and sending care packages to our troops overseas, young people are volunteering and making significant contributions.

Ten Huggable Heroes from the United States and Canada will be selected and each will be awarded with a $7,500 educational scholarship and $2,500 in the form of a donation to the 501 (c)(3) charity of his/her choice, as well as a celebration trip to St. Louis in July. Entry forms are available at all Build-A-Bear Workshop stores in the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada, and online entries are being accepted at buildabear.com/huggableheroes

Young people truly are our future leaders and we hope you will encourage your staff to distribute information to potential Huggable Hero candidates in your school. Students can nominate themselves or each other as well.
