Eligible Contestants: Current high school seniors who will be accepted to an accredited two-year or four-year college or university by the spring of 2011 are eligible to compete contestants who advance to the National Competition must prove their acceptance at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university. In addition, the contestant must be enrolled in their colleges or universities for the fall semester immediately following the National Competition at the Annual National Bar Association convention. All contestants in the National Competition shall receive a scholarship to be used for their educational expenses. The top 3 contestants shall receive the largest scholarships.

Friends for Life Foundation

Friends For Life Foundation, Inc. in partnership with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Phi Phi Omega Chapter is pleased to announce the opening of the application process for its 2011-2012 Strands of Elegance Cotillion Scholarship Program.
Eligibility is restricted to young women of good character and reputation, who will be juniors or seniors during the fall 2011-2012 school year. These young ladies must plan to attend a post-secondary institution/school within one year of high school graduation. They must be minority females who are residents of North Fulton County or surrounding suburbs. They must also have a minimum cumulative academic average of 2.7 on a comparative 4.0 scale.
As further evidence of our commitment to give back to our community, Phi Phi Omega Chapter will provide sponsorship to at least one debutante who meets all of the aforementioned criteria.  Situations which render this applicant a candidate for sponsorship may be related to family income, family size or any other pertinent and relevant information. School may nominated 4 students for every one hundred in the calss of 2012.

LGE Community Credit Union's 2011 Scholarship Program awards four
$2,000 scholarships to students entering college this Fall. Scholarships will
be awarded via a drawing on April 29, 2011. Names of the winners will be
posted on our website by 5pm on Friday, April 29, 2011.
DEADLINE
Completed application and quiz must be received by LGE Community Credit
Union by the close of business on Friday, April 22, 2011.
RULES
Applicant or at least one parent must be an LGE Community Credit Union
member in good standing.
Applicant must be a graduating high school senior and must begin college or technical school
as a first-time, full-time freshman in the following Fall semester.
Applicant must have already been accepted at a college or technical school and provide verification of acceptance.
Scholarship goes toward tuition, books, dormitory lodging or meal costs and will be made payable to the college
or technical school by LGE Community Credit Union. The school must be accredited and located in the United
States. Each winner's check will be mailed directly to the college on the winner's behalf before the Fall tuition payment
deadline.
Winners will be notified personally by a credit union representative by phone and/or email.
Winners must supply an official transcript of their year-end grades prior to the scholarship being funded to thecollege or university.Winners agree to submit a photo and have their name published in LGE Community Credit Union publicationsand website and participate in future advertisements.Odds of winning based on number of applicants.

The Region 8 CAP Council Scholarship Essay Contests

Two Scholarship Essay Contests for graduating seniors who will be furthering their educations at higher learning institutions. The contestants must reside in one of the two outlined geographical areas of UAW Region 8.

GUIDELINES
• Contest is open to all students residing in and attending a public, private and home
schools within the states represented in Region 8.
• Area 1 will include the following states: Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia
and Florida.
• The awards will be given in the following amounts in both Areas 1 & 2. (There will be
a total of six (6) awards given in Region 8. • Essays should be judged as follows:
First Place $1,200.00
Second Place $ 800.00
Third Place $ 500.00
• To receive scholarship money, the winners must furnish proof that he/she has met admission standards and has been accepted for enrollment at a higher learning institution as a full-time student commencing with the Fall term following high school graduation.
This dollar amount will be a one-time payment.
• All checks will be made payable to the student and the college.
You DO NOT have to belong to the UAW to enter this contest.
 ESSAY GUIDELINES
All essays must adhere to the following guidelines:
1. Topic - choose from the following list:
- Why buy American?
- Why are unions needed?
- Protecting our Manufacturing base/jobs in America.
- Why would a worker want to join a union?
2. Paper - plain white - 8 1/2 x 11.
3. Typewritten - one side only
4. Length - no more than 4 pages

Savannah State University - NSF-Funded PRISM Program Scholarships

Each year, the PRISM Program will fund 30 scholarships for eligible SSU freshmen and sophomore students. The scholarship awards up to $3500 per year.

Eligibility Requirements to Apply

1)      Freshmen or sophomores enrolled at Savannah State University or  high school seniors who plan to attend Savannah State University

 2)      GPA of 3.0 or higher

 3)      Intent to  major in a STEM (science, technology, engineering or math) discipline

 4)      SAT score of 1000 and above or an ACT score of 19 and above

Requirements to Maintain a PRISM Scholarship

1)      Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher

 2)      Participate in all required program activities, including mentoring, monthly seminars  and Summer Discovery Learning

The Leonard M. Perryman Communications Scholarship for Racial Ethnic Minority Students awards a $2,500 scholarship for undergraduate study of religion journalism or mass communications. It recognizes of the work of Leonard M. Perryman, a journalist for The United Methodist Church for nearly 30 years.


Criteria for Selection

Applicants must be a United Methodist ethnic minority student enrolled at the junior or senior level in the journalism or communications department of an accredited college or university in the United States.

Applicants are judged on five criteria:

  • Christian commitment and involvement in the life of the United Methodist Church
  • Academic achievement as revealed by transcripts, grade point averages and the required letters of reference
  • Journalistic experience and/or evidence of journalistic talent
  • Clarity of purpose in plans and goals for the future
  • Potential professional ability as a religion journalist

About the Citizen Athlete Program
MaxPreps and the Army National Guard are pleased to announce the second annual Citizen Athlete program. This program is designed to encourage outstanding citizenship from high school student athletes. The awards are based on four main areas of life: community service, academics, athletics and school involvement. While the recipients of this award may not be the often-heralded MVP on their athletic team, they are MVPs in life... making a positive difference in all they do. Ten winners will be selected to receive a $2,500 scholarship! The program has two parts: nomination & voting.
Nomination:

Voting:

Pi Kappa Alpha Leadership Scholarship

Due to the decrease in the HOPE book allowance thePi Kappa Alpha Fraternity Theta Gamma Chapter at Georgia College and State University would ;like to award a $100 Pi Kappa Alpha Leadership Scholarship.  Pi Kappa Alpha would like to extend a scholarship opportunity to senior males that are planning on attending Georgia College at the beginning of the Fall of 2011 semester.  The deadline for application is April 1, 2011.  Please fill out the application and turn in to your counselor,  if you are interested.  This scholarship is currently only available to the six schools that have the most students coming to Georgia Colledge and State University.

The finalists must attend an interview during the month of June in the metro Atlanta area. The winner will be announced at a banquet in Atlanta in August.
