Finalists will be notified via email and phone. Winners will be announced at the Black College Expo. Finalists must be present to win. Please check in at the registration booth no later than 12pm on the day of the expo.   Atlanta, Saturday, Feb 5, 2011 at the Cobb Galleria Center.

Mothers and Daughters Against Cancer scholarship

Deadline:  Feb 21, 2011

The scholarship is awarded to a female high school senior in the amount of $1,000.  Applicant selection will be based on strength of character, leadership and commitment to raising cancer awareness.

To be eligible,

  • The applicant must be a female who attends a private or public high school in one of the following Georgia counties or is in a state approved home school program within these school districts:  Cobb, Dekalb, Gwinnett, Fulton or Forsyth.
  • The applicant must be enrolled as a high school senior or in a state approved home school program.
  • Applicant seeks higher education from a college, university or vocational-technical school.
  • A minimum 2.75/4.0 grade point average during high school.
  • Applicant must be a cancer survivor or currently diagnosed with cancer.
  • Scholarship recipient and her parents, if she is a minor, must sign a release agreeing to have their name, photo, and story published in the news media, on the MADAC website or any MADAC publication as a MADAC Scholarship Recipient. MADAC reserves the right to use photographs and/or statements of scholarship recipient in any promotional materials.
  • Scholarship recipients will be invited to attend the Gwinnett County Relay for Life May 6, 2011, as an honorary MADAC member. Recipient may be asked to participate in selected interviews and/or media coverage.

A completed application, a "personal Spotlight" page, an essay, an official transcript, a letter from a treating health car provider to confirm your diagnosis of cancer ( not a recommendation letter), two recommendation letters- one from a high school teacher, one from a coach/supervisor/ religious or community leader, a copy of acceptance letter from the college/university you will attend by May 2, 2011.


AFA Teens for Alzheimer's Awareness College Scholarship

Eligibility:
(1) US citizens or permanent residences
(2) Plan to enter an accredited 4 year college/univerisyt within 12 months of the scholarship deadline
(3) Currently enrolled in high school or home school in US (if not ,please explain)
(4) Submit all the required materials
(5) Winner and runners-ups will be required to supply SS # to process scholarship awards
Requirements:
(1)Completed application form
(2)  An autobiography (200words or less) essay
(3)US birth certificate or passport, or permanent residency documentation (Diver's license is not acceptable)
(4)Two copies of essay (one copy w/ an attached title page w/ essay title, word count and applicant's name an address and one copy w/o a title page): 1,200 to 1,500 word essay (typed, English, 12-point font,double-spaced, on-inch margins) that answers  (1) How has Alzheimer's disease changed or impacted your life?(2) What have you learned about yourself , your family and/or your community in the face of coping w/ Alzhelmer's disease?

2011 Sawnee Foundation Youth Scholarship

Deadline: Applications must be received by  Sawnee EMC by 5pm, Jan 14, 2011

Eligibility: To be eligible, a student's permanent residence must be served by Sawnee EMC and they must be a senior. (Family members of Sawnee employees, CATF members and Sawnee Board of Directors are not eligible) The scholarship must be used at an accreditted college, university or vocational/technical school.

Ryan Boslet Scholarship

Deadline:   April, 15, 2011.

The Ryan Boslet Scholarship is being awarded to a class of 2011 Chattahoochee High School varsity letterman (male or female) who exemplifies outstanding character, high integrity and a strong sense of team spirit that were such positive attributes of Ryan Boslet.  The student athlete needs to excel academically in addition to demonstrating the "heart of a champion" characteristics in varsity athletic competition.

 The Ryan Boslet Scholarship awarded for the 2011 winner will total $2000.

 Criteria:

  1. Varsity letterman (male or female)
  1. Cumulative numeric GPA of 80 or better
  1. Demonstrate championship characteristics (high level of integrity, strong leadership skills, "team-first" orientation, commitment, dependability)
Application:

 Complete the application form and return to Leigh Lynott in the Counseling Department by April, 15, 2011.  Scholarship winner will be announced at Chattahoochee High School Commencement Ceremony.    Scholarship award of $2000 will be sent directly to the scholarship winner's college or university.

Epsilon Sigma Alpha Foundation Scholarship

The ESA Foundation Board of Directors offers about 150 scholarships a year for deserving United States and International students who meet the criteria of individual endowments.  

ESA International is a premier leadership and service organization bringing volunteers together in programs and projects that make a positive difference to the world community.  The ESA Foundation is a 501(c)3 public foundation established in 1970 as an organization exclusively for charitable and educational purposes.  It is pledged to the development of philanthropic activities of volunteers to assist those in need and to educate those who seek to learn thus improving their lives and the lives of others.

KFC Colonel's Scholarship

KFC Colonel's Scholars is looking for high school seniors with financial need and an entrepreneurial spirit to qualify for the KFC Colonel's Scholars Program. Awards are up to $20,000 for tuition, fees, textbooks, room and board.
To qualify, graduating high school seniors must:
1. Earn a minimum GPA of 2.75
2. Enroll in a public college or university within their state of legal residence
3. Plan to pursue a bachelor's degree
4. Be a US citizen or permanent resident
5. Demonstrate financial need

Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity- 3 Balanced Man Scholarships

The Georgia Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity's aim is to recognize and reward men who strive to achieve balance and all-around excellence. 

Application to the Balanced Man Scholarships is open to all incoming male freshmen to the University of Georgia in the Fall of 2011. While the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity sponsors the scholarship,  winning teh scholarship in no way obligated to join the fraternity. The top 3 candidates will be awarded  $1,000, $500 and $250 respectively. University of Dayton's Leadership in Service Scholarship

For students who has a commitment to service within their school, church or community.  The scholarship does not need to be awarded to the top student based on the GPA and test scores, but rather the student who has the innate desire to learn, lead and serve.  A $10,000 Leadership in service scholarship ($2500 per year for 4 years) will be offered to a senior graduating from Chattahoochee High School who has been accepted for admission into  the University of Dayton.
